Pushing our Boundaries. Expanding our horizons.

Improving Mental Health Care in the Global South:

June 16, 18, 20

NEID Global’s LINKAGES series is designed to spark learning and action around important current issues in the global philanthropy/development space, and creates opportunities for intersectional and innovative learning among donors globally.  The virtual format enables inclusion of leaders and activists directly involved in shaping solutions and innovation on the topic at hand, as well as donors working on similar issues around the globe. Past programs have focused on strengthening women’s leadership on climate and on the role of private philanthropy in funding climate solutions.

Program Overview

Many countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America have limited mental health resources, including a shortage of trained mental health professionals and a limited mental health infrastructure. Since COVID, a renewed focus on improving mental health care globally has led to the proliferation of efforts to generate homegrown as well as global responses.

The LINKAGES program will provide donors with:

  • An overview of the history and landscape of philanthropic funding in the mental health space

  • Key opportunities for impact in the Global South

  • Insights from leading voices and organizations

  • Access to diverse funding tools and strategies

  • Focus on critical issues within mental health, including:

    • Stigma reduction.

    • Advocacy for better policies.

    • Youth mental health services.

    • Support for trauma-affected populations.

    • Community-driven mental health solutions.

    • Fostering belonging and inclusion.
